KRAV FIGHTER CODE OF CONDUCT

Krav Maga Ice Pick Grip Knife Evasion

All club members and participants of any class, workshop or event that is organised by Krav Fighter must agree to be bound by the Code of Conduct. The Krav Fighter Code of Conduct is in place to provide an environment that encourages training, growth, safety and camaraderie. Our instructors and management have an obligation to ensure that these rules are followed for the benefits of all. If anyone feels that these rules are not being followed, they can raise this with any instructor or management staff with confidence that all discussions will be kept strictly confidential and will be addressed with respect. Krav Fighter reserves the right to remove anyone, as well as revoke their entry, membership and grading without a right to compensation if they fail to comply with the Rules as outlined below. This Code of Conduct is subject to change.

Understanding of Risk

Krav Maga and reality based self defence training are close contact combat activities, meaning they involve physical contact with people and/or equipment under simulated violent and stressful scenarios that are designed to be as close as possible to the real life threatening situations, while still maintaining the physical safety of the participants. As in any other physically demanding recreational activity, there is always a risk of injury. Anyone participating in any class, workshop or event  that is organised by Krav Fighter does so at their own volition and at their own risk, with the full understanding that while Krav Fighter and its instructors are committed to minimising the risk of injury, such risk cannot be fully eliminated.

Club Etiquette

  • Commit to the chosen membership and attend classes regularly. You can only improve through consistent training, perseverance and determination
  • Be punctual. Arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the class or the event, so that you are ready to train when training starts
  • Turn off your mobile devices and do not answer phone calls during the classes and events for your safety and courtesy to others
  • Communicate to the management or the instructor in charge if you can't make it to the event such as the workshop, ability test, course or training seminar
  • DO NOT TRAIN If you're suffering from cold, flu or any communicable disease, or you're under influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Pay attention to the instructors, and listen carefully to their instructions and advice. Ask if you are not sure in something. Instructors are there to help you learn
  • Treat other participants with respect, be humble, courteous and helpful to people you're training with. Be disciplined and leave your ego and 'tough guy' attitude at home
  • Practice control and safety at all times when training and use only the appropriate physical contact according to the training situation and necessary for skill development
  • DO NOT DISCRIMINATE against other participants either by skill level or by their gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, language, colour or other forms of differentiation
  • DO NOT behave in any way that can be interpreted as a sexual harassment. If you were subjected to sexual harassment, report it immediately so it can be dealt with
  • Keep the premises clean, tidy up the equipment used after the training, use the rubbish and recycling bins supplied and do not walk onto the mats and carpet with soiled shoes

Singlets are not allowed
  • Shoes - Clean sport shoes, runners or cross trainers are the best. No steel cap work boots, tactical or army boots that can cause damage to people and equipment

Krav Maga Basics - Krav Fighter Induction Course

  • The Krav Maga Basics is an important compulsory induction course for new members to learn the basics of Krav Maga, however it is also open to general public
  • While new students can start participating in classes immediately upon joining, they are required to sign up for the first scheduled Krav Maga Basics course
  • The Krav Maga Basics course fee is collected at the time of joining, to ensure the clarity around necessity of the attendance
  • If you trained Krav Maga elsewhere for a considerable period of time, and display a decent understanding of technique and self defence knowledge, you can request to be exempt from the Krav Maga Basics course. This may be granted upon the evaluation by one of the Instructors. A decision of the evaluating Instructor is final and cannot be challenged

Krav Fighter Ability Tests

  • To be eligible for the Ability Test, members must inform instructors/management no later than 2 weeks before the Ability Test date (more notice is recommended), and attend as many Krav Maga classes as possible from that point onwards, to review the techniques and readiness for the Ability Test evaluated by the instructors
  • Once the Ability Test readiness is confirmed by the instructors, the member's participation is secured only by the timely payment of the fee, which must be completed before the Ability Test date
  • To pass the Ability Test, a member must demonstrate full competence in all the techniques being evaluated, the survivor's mindset, determination, appropriate aggression and physical and mental control
  • In assessing a participant, the instructors also take into consideration the consistency of attendance, attitude, focus and attention during training sessions, as well as during the Ability Test
  • Krav Fighters, friends and family of participants of the Ability Tests are welcome to watch, support and encourage them during the Ability Test as we foster a culture of inclusion, camaraderie and belonging
  • If a member fails the Ability Test, they are expected to continue training on regular basis and improving in the areas identified by the instructors, until the next Ability Test opportunity. Quitting is not an option
  • There are no refunds for the Ability Test, regardless of whether the participant has completed the test or not

General Guidelines

  • To foster a safe and welcoming environment and to uphold the reputation of our club we do not accept anyone with a criminal record, or gang/terrorist group affiliation to train with us
  • Members should endeavour to train on a regular basis in order to become competent in self defence and to experience a realistic improvement in their ability
  • Participants in all classes and events must inform the Instructor of any injuries, whether they occurred during or outside of training for their own safety and safety of their training partners
  • General public is welcome to attend all Krav Fighter events that are open to public, provided they comply with this Code of Conduct, just like the Krav Fighter members
  • All the participants of Krav Fighter classes and events are not to use what they're taught against any person, animal or property, except for the specific purpose of self defence, or defence of those unable to defend themselves in the instances of extreme danger or unprovoked attacks, and are obliged to uphold New Zealand laws in all circumstances
